Morrita Japanese Chisel Set 9mm(3/8"),15mm(5/8"),21mm(7/8"),30mm(1-3/16") Wood Chisel Wood Carving Mortise Chisel With Double-layered Blades 4pcs in wooden box
Morrita Japanese Chisels : The blades are considerably harder and more wear-resistant although more susceptible to chipping than their Western counterparts. They do not cope well with levering, rough treatment or use on knotty wood. When sharpened correctly using water stones and treated carefully, these chisels display superior cutting performance and edge holding capacity on even the hardest woods.
1.Laminated Double-layered Steel: The soft steel body protects the thin layer of hard, high-carbon steel from fracturing and absorbs the vibrations generated when struck with a hammer.
2.Tapered Blade: The blade is set at a slight angle to the tang to increase the working depth to nearly twice the length of the blade.
3.Hollow-Ground Back: The hollow relief on the back of the blade reduces the area in contact with the workpiece and therefore reduces friction during use. It simultaneously facilitates the sharpening process, as only the outer edges of the hard steel back need to be abraded.
4.Sharpening: Chisels are sharpened already. Please wipe off anti-rust oil before use. We recommend using water stones (for example:1000/6000 grit combination stone) to sharpen bevel. Then the back of blade must be flattened.
Notice:
1.If you don't use the chisel for a long time, please clean it, then grease the blade with antirust oil.
